In the age of simple feature phone, simple text message and MMS were more popular. As the time passed, Android and other Smartphone player entered and it’s replaced by apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, WeChat, QQmobile,Skype,Viber,Snapchat,Telegram and others. Text messaging is almost replaced by such apps. Obviously, there is tough competition in the market. When their discussion comes to the social networking “WhatsApp” stands on the second position along with Youtube. According to the report of statista it is the most popular messaging apps worldwide as of June 2018, based on the number of monthly active users. There are 1500 million active users accessing WhatsApp messenger. The Facebook stands in the first position with 2234 million monthly active users. Around 60 million messages are transferred per day. It’s a huge volume of traffic. 28% of the total population in India were using WhatsApp as of 3rd quarter 2017.
Such large user base. Undoubtfully, it is number one messaging app till day. It offers features such as group chats, the exchange of images, video and even audio messages as well as stickers or emoticons. Soon, the company going to integrate payment system in the app. It will increase its productivity. Today, WhatsApp has become the best platform to share data ,free voice and video calling.
Here are some plus features of WhatsApp
Hide specific contact from viewing story – Now user can hide the story from specific users. For that Go to WhatsApp settings >> Account >> Privacy
In who can see your status update Select Status >> ‘My contacts except’ Choose the contact. That’s it.
Read messages without user acknowledgement – It is possible. Means you want to read but without letting know the sender. You can achieve it by following a couple of ways.
a. Go to Settings >> Account >> Privacy >> uncheck Read Receipts
But the only drawback is that same thing will happen to you.
By another way, turn on aeroplane mode and read the message after it turns off aeroplane mode. No double blue tick will appear to message sender.
A UPI Payment – user can pay using linked bank account or UPI payment method. Currently, it is not available for all users. Soon, it will roll out to all users.
Hide Notification – User can hide message notification that appears on the locked screen. Just go to settings >> Notifications >> Popup Notifications >> No popup or as per your requirement
Still, some on some points company should think.
1. Single Theme – since its opening to till date there is a green coloured theme. The company has never introduced any new theme so far. To bring some refreshing moment, the company should bring a new theme for WhatsApp.
2. Fewer images sharing - The total number of images allowed to share on WhatsApp is less than other messaging apps.
3. Permission For Group – If you are a group owner and want to add a user, you can without asking to concern person. That’s not fair. The company should add the option of asking to the user to add in the group. Otherwise, it becomes like harassment. In large number messages comes and user unable to handle it.
