The Muse Makes a Useful Suggestion

“You appear to be getting desperate,” the Muse commented at me nonchalantly. It was sprawled across my bed absently sorting through old pictures out of my photo box.

“What makes you say that?” I replied absently, switching from one chat window to another. I was having several interesting conversations at once and trying to keep up with all three of them was becoming a bit of a challenge.

“What’s this ‘Poetry Night’ blog that you posted?” it sat up and pointed at my computer. “What exactly is the point? You wasted all that time collecting links and pasting them up and how many people have really read it?”

“Mmmm… don’t know,” I shrugged.

“And what’s with the reposting of MySpace blog entries on MSN?” it continued. “Can’t you come up with anything original? I mean, don’t you think people want to see something new?”

“Why should I make people read all of the crap just to read the good stuff?” I replied. “Besides, you haven’t objected to me posting simultaneously on eBlogger. You sound a little bit biased if you ask me.”

The Muse ignored my jab at its egotistical nature and struck its telling blow.

“And why are you driving for people to subscribe to your blog if you aren’t going to write something new and original? Next thing you know you’re going to be posting bulletins asking your MySpace friends to whore out your blog to all of their friends!” the Muse exclaimed.

“What a great idea!” I looked at the Muse for a moment. “That’s the first good idea you’ve had in days! Wow. Finally. Something I can use.”

I chuckled and turned back to my chat windows, secure in my knowledge that the Muse won’t take this lying down. I should have something worth reading to post here within the week. Stay tuned.
