Open Society Foundations reports that Georgia (Europe) passes anti-discrimination law, which includes protections for gender identity and sexual orientation. There is still work to do, especially to win the hearts and minds in Georgian society. "(T)he new law was designed to fulfill European Union requirements that would allow Georgians to travel to Europe short-term without a visa."
Another report emphasises, that "important safeguards" are still missing in the passed law, and that Georgia is still "a terrible place to be gay.

Nonetheless, the passing of anti-discrimation law is a very encouraging development! And it's good to see that Georgia - one of the cradles of European culture - continues to anticipate closer association and integration with the EU.
