Some of our lovely snow-flocked evergreens |
Couldn't sleep last night, was up until past 6:30am, reading most of the time. Up for the day at 1:20pm, still tired; woke from a dream that had caused me to cry out in surprise and fear. In the dream I was once again in the first home I ever knew, that of my grandparents. I often dream of that house, and can picture it so vividly in my mind, sometimes empty and other times with their furnishings. I talked to Toad about that house, reminiscing and trying to assuage the anxiety and depression that has me so down. He doesn't remember things I've told him about my childhood, which is good in a way, as what I told him was news to him.
It began snowing this afternoon, lovely big snowflakes but not much accumulation. The forecast was for a 30% chance of flurries, but for us it was 100%!
Had a pleasant Skype visit with my daughter and grandsons this afternoon. It helps D if GC will engage with me and GT with her, to reduce the squabbling over toys and for her attention. As long as GC is allowed to "hold Nana" (the phone) he is a happy camper. The boys were cooking again today, using the Hello Kitty frying pans. When D asked them if they wanted to go downstairs and eat, GC said "No thank you. I want to pretend eat", as he busied himself play cooking.
I still don't understand the changes made by Duolingo, but did do a "Practice" lesson for 10XP to continue my streak. After that lesson I was invited to use flashcards to learn new vocabulary via Tiny Cards, so I spent quite a while doing that. I started with Duolingo French Course and chose Common Phrases, which had a deck of five "cards" that had to be completed in order. As each card was satisfactorily completed it turned gold and the next card became available. I did all the cards and hit the Home button that took me to more choices for Tiny Cards, with the option to return to French or to another of the languages I'm learning or to other subjects, in English! It looks like people can create and contribute decks of cards for other users to learn from. I did three sets of Tiny cards (in addition to the set in French): Basic Human Bones, Health Science, and Patterns of Home Decor and Fabrics. When I finally got back to my Duolingo Home page I learned that I still had earned just the 10XP from the Practice lesson earlier. My colorful French tree with crowns looked just the same as it did yesterday.
I'm off to bed to read.
Bonne nuit !Thanks Be For: My lack of appetite today
