Surviving Poisoning and Getting Back on Track

I just received a marketing offer for an executive planner. This helps busy executives combine daily, weekly and quarterly goals in order of their priorities. It does not allow for acts of nature such as crazy weather cutting your power grid, nor random acts of health distress such as Poisoning.

Yes, apparently I have been poisoned. Or at least that’s what I’m being told by the non-specialists in my life.

We are imagining it to be food poisoning, but who knows?

I had gone to the Store with one of my sons. Just as we arrived, I felt dizzy and sat in the car for a moment. With some difficulty, the world spinning around me, I stood and walked into the store, staggering a bit. It was early in the morning, I had some coffee and a small bite of food prior to this.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Same old.

We made our quick run and I held onto the cart.

“I’m not feeling well,” I commented a Couple of times.

I felt drenched in sweat and off-balance. We checked-out and made it to the car. On a normal day, we would be heading for a power walk, but I was now rethinking that.

“I might need to go home,” I remarked, vacillating once, then rethinking it again.

My son was driving. Home it was. Then the feeling of nausea swept over me.

“I think I’m going to throw up,” I said, reaching under the seat to feel for plastic bags we sometimes stuffed there for any eventuality.

Nothing.

“I’ll get you home, Mama,” my son reassured me.

We were five minutes away. I thought to have him pull over, but he had just entered very heavy early-morning traffic.

Meanwhile, I reached into the backseat where our purchases sat. One had a double bag on it and I hoisted the whole thing, carefully removing the outer bag. It did not appear to have any holes or rips in the plastic.

Perfect.

And so I threw up. A whole bunch. Repeatedly.

It’s amazing how long a five-minute drive can be when you’re sick. And generally, I’m never sick. Usually, not even one cold a year, thank the Lord.

He helped me into the house, got me a bucket, and I kept vomiting for the next couple of hours. Fourteen times to be exact. There was really nothing else to throw up, however, I tried to let nature run her course.

I mean, our bodies were designed to take care of business.

But it was a nasty business today.

After a couple of hours, Benedetto brought me a piece of ginger. Then ginger tea. More vomiting. At last, my body gave way to exhaustion and I fell asleep for two or three hours, making me wonder if the episode was stress-related, since I awakened to concern over what was not getting done….

My family claimed that it might have been the lettuce on a pre-made salad I had purchased the day before. Maybe. Which only goes to show you that eating healthy could be dangerous to your health! Perhaps I should eat what the rest of the family eats….

Anyway, I experienced no stomach distress and no diarrhea. Simply dizziness and vomiting. Possibly a temporary bout of vertigo as I had turned my head rapidly when arriving to the store parking lot and felt something snap.

But the family likes the sound of poisoning. Hmmm….
