It’s almost been two years since I joined Ernst & Young…..i still remember my first day at work…..i walked in and sat myself beside this girl who i was very intimidated by, and today she is one of my really good friends, a part of my everyday life!....so that is Sana Shah (Sanu, San, Chana, Crank) for you….blunt, honest, cute, adorable and of course highly pricey! (Need to try all kinds of emotional blackmail to get to her to come to places she doesn’t want to)......then there is Nisha Jaichand (Nishu, Nish) - bubbly, has an amazing smile that lights up your day, another one of my really good friends…..her I knew from earlier days….but of course we had never known each other well enough before E&Y…..let me now introduce you to two other wonderful people, who are amazingly funny and make your world feel like a better place…..meet Aditya Jairaj (AJ) and Varun Madhusudan (VM, Vz take it easy, Bottle)…..these guys introduced all of us to the word “TIGHT”….the only word that is still stuck with us, if nothing else remains of those fun filled days that we shared……
We began our journey together at E&Y a year and a half back……our day would begin with all of us going to the cafeteria for coffee…..then obviously stepping out for a smoke!......spending hours on the terrace….and talking about the most random stuff ever…..between all of this socializing, we would get some work done!....play foos ball endlessly, practically through the entire day!.....and yeah…..when we would work at our respective desks…..we would all still stay in touch……through STC!.......group chats that went on and on….Never came to an end!.....watch the world around us and laugh at everything around us…..come up with names for everyone!.....Yem, DT, Fox, ST, SL, S&P…..and many more!.....pretend like we are busy at work…..but actually working hard at trying to make each other laugh!!.....spying on hidden affairs in the office!!......spending nights at AJ’s place….watching movies back to back……smoking on his terrace…..chatting till late at night!!.....going for chaat, ice cream…..drinking sessions at noon wines…..movies…..helping each other stumble along our own roads…….
The feeling of having such a great group of friends is incredible…..when you have the worst days….you know these guys are going to support you through it……when you have the best days ever……you know these guys are going to enjoy and celebrate those happy moments with you…..provide you with tissue when your eyes are welling up…..stand by you…..protect you from everything…..take care of you…..take you home when you are too drunk to walk straight…..Comfort you…..well these are the things that you can never ever forget even if times change…..and not to mention…….i miss you guys like crazy and i love you guys to death…….
Those were the days….crazy, innocent, fun, and more than anything….those days have left behind with all of us an unforgettable memorable time that we can re visit every now and then and silently laugh to ourselves…..
Well I guess change is inevitable……and before we knew it……too many things changed around us………in our own lives…….too many new people in all our lives…….we grew apart…..sometimes I think to myself….how did that ever happen??.....to a group of inseparable people!......shit happens….so today we are who we were then….but not as a group anymore…..all of us involved in our own lives…..different lives now…..
We all live in hope……and yes….i live in that hope as well……hoping that in the future we can all come back to being “us”!......here’s to you guys……here’s to us……cheers ..
