Same Old Abortion Doctor Song and Dance

I heard this guy give a Speech about eight years ago. I see he still gives the same opener about the lady who wished she had cancer. That story may be true. Then he talks about how everyday four or five people would come to the emergency room where he worked with botched abortions during the time that Abortion was illegal. That story is highly unlikely given the statistics about illegal abortions during this time period.

Back when I watched this man give a speech, I was pro-choice. Even then I found him off-putting. He had such an aggrandized sense of self-importance. I was embarassed that he was one of the spokesmen for what I considered to be a sympathetic cause. During his speech he would cry at all the "right" places--it seemed so fake.

I also found his position untenable. I remember him saying that an abortion was definitely the ending of a life. That he knew he was killing a baby. But that it was necessary. That's rather monstrous. When I was pro-choice I saw a fetus and a baby as two very distinctly different entities. His argument that he saw them both as babies and was alright with killing them disgusted me even then.

Now I'm pro-life, but my opinions of him and his arguments haven't changed.

One thing I found particularly interesting in the story: The nurse showing girls the statistics on abortion and saying, "You think there's room in hell for all those women?" See? Everyone has abortions. Now you couldn't possibly fit all those people in a big, mean furnace, could you? So that means it's okay! Thanks for the moral guidance, Ms. Abortion Lady!
