Different from yours to enhance your decision making .Assuming a different perspective is normally has its own difficulties as there is a common fallacy to think of our perspectives are right. de bono has effectively put a solution to this by categorizing the common perspectives in place so that it’s easy for a person to accept that one for seeing a problem from different angles.

In a simplified view it’s about the way we see things that alter the results.
The six thinking hats represents six different perspectives or view points that enable us to see a situation or problem; naturally it will increase the visibility of the situation and various factors clogged down by individual judgments will be revealed in its true colors enabling us to locate a better side of the situation or problem.
Each of the hats is named with a color which is descriptive of that perspective.
Let’s see how many hats we have got and where should we use them.
White Hat- Neutrality, Objectivity, Focus on the information available, Any thing Which is raw or unbiased, Like what’s the present condition, what’s Needed? And so on.
Red Hat- Emotions, Feelings, Gut Feelings, Hunches, Intuition etc.
Black Hat - Judgmental, Critic, and Logical Analysis
Yellow Hat - Optimism ,looks for the logically positive
Green Hat- Creative thinking, New Ideas , Possibilities and Hypothesis
Blue Hat- Organizer, Overview , summarizing, Control of process and steps and Decision

All perspectives are essential for a balanced approach to a situation, and it should not be taken that one hat is superior to other. For a better and balanced decision, utilization of all hats in the right proportions is needed.

The advantage of this method is in focused attention towards the issue in hand, improved communication as the members in discussion knows there are different perspectives and they are free to express themselves wearing a particular Hat. It’s also a convenient mechanism for switching Gears as changing perspectives won’t be counted as negative.

In actual scenarios this type of thinking style gives ample space and variety to ones way of seeing things, you can introduce these hats to clear ego from the decision making procedures.
