Detroit Realities #699

Three Detroiters were charged in underage sex trafficking. Grace Nyirahabimana, Brian Ashe, and Eric Brown lured, imprisoned, and threatened a 14-year-old girl. They prostituted her all over Detroit from a Backpage ad. Unbelievable for a Detroit judge: Brown was actually denied bond, Ash’s bond is $1 million, and Grace’s bond is $250,000.

Two people fell 2 stories as an outside walkway at a Detroit apartment building collapsed. They were trapped after debris fell on top of them. Thankfully, neighbors used carjacks to lift cement so they could breathe until EMS arrived. The Detroit Fire Marshall told residents the building is condemned and used ladders to evacuate residents from upper floors.

So far this year, there have been 17 cases of Hepatitis A in Detroit and 144 elsewhere in Wayne County.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • A couple in their early 20s in Detroit got into an argument in a car. The guy started biting her hand so she stabbed him. He’s in critical condition and she was arrested.
  • Just west of Detroit, a large service truck was stolen with $50,000 worth of equipment. The business owner will have to lay off employees if he doesn’t get it back; and possibly close the business.
  • Memorial Weekend started Saturday with 4 shootings in Detroit. One of them was fatal, a 38-year-old at a party was shot multiple times. The 3 surviving victims will not cooperate with police.
