Be Thankful for EVERYTHING

Happy Thanksgiving 2k17 everyone! I hope that you spend today gathered around the warmth of family and friends, stuffing your face with good ole’ Homemade eats! I know I am pumped to be gorging on my mom and grandma’s homemade cookin’!

This post will be short and sweet, as today should be spent enjoying the company of those you love. (pssst…for those of you always glued to your mobile devices, give your eyes a break today, will ya?)

As you sit and listen to Aunt Margie talk relentlessly about her nine cats and the feline outfits she shoved them into, or to Grandpa Jim as he spews on and on about his feelings in regards to Trump being President, I want you to think about the things you are really Thankful for as you dodge Grandpa’s spit bullets.

We are taught to be thankful for the good things that happen in our lives, but in reality, we should be grateful for everything that happens to us; the good, the bad, AND the ugly. While this is easier said than done, the bigger picture of the value of our lives lies beneath the surface of the horrible things we inevitably have to Endure. Life is never about sugar and roses, as we all know!

Did you go through a terrible breakup with a partner you thought was you’re ‘forever’? Did you lose a loved one? Did your dream car get tarnished in an accident? Has your marriage not been going too swell this past year? No matter what heartache you have experienced, we must be thankful for them, because they help shape us into who we are as individuals. Without the bad and the ugly, we would not be the strong-willed folks we are today!

If you ask anyone that knows me well, I live strongly next to the belief that everything happens for a reason. It may take months or years to really see why things had to occur the way they did, but in the end, I have been grateful for everything I’ve had to endure during my short lifetime on planet Earth. If even one of those situations didn’t happen, I would not be the woman I am today.

So, when it comes time for you to talk about what you are thankful for at the dinner table today, really ponder over everything that happened. While the bad is labeled as such, there is a silver lining behind all the negative that occurs in our life, which really makes it not too negative after all! How we endure the negative is who we are as people and that in itself is something to be really thankful for!

Enough of me talking! It’s about time to shove my chatterbox with mom’s homemade stuffing and pumpkin cheesecake bars! Safe travels today everyone! And I hope you enjoy the kick off to the 2017 holiday season!
