The Silver iPad Generation

I think that my son’s generation—which I have deemed the Silver Ipad Generation since they’re attached from birth to their devices— is the single worst generation yet!  They’re lazy, unqualified (for everything), disrespectful, entitled little sociopaths.

My son, for example, did not talk to me for months this past year, but now that he’s deemed me worthy of talking to, it’s just incoherent demands and evil grins.  He needs me to prepare all of his meals, he doesn’t clean his room or anything.

He drinks entirely too much, and honestly I can’t remember the last time I saw him without a bottle in his hand.

When I was his age I knew how to carry myself!  I didn’t expect a free ride.

I blame my wife, she has baby-d him.  What is wrong with the discipline that we received?  When I was his age I knew what it meant when my mother got the row-boat oar!  And look at me, I turned out great!  I grew out of my stutter and can sit without any feeling whatsoever and I’m better for it.

He won’t even put the effort to get something he wants if it rolls away from him.

They think that they’re always going to be given what they want, and it’s only a matter of time before the world fails to deliver on that promise.

That’s the problem with this generation isn’t it?  They want everything just handed to them.  He doesn’t understand the value of a dollar or of a hard days work.

And don’t get me started on their fashion choices.  Dressing like sailors, and princesses. Of course they have no sense of identity with their little outfits!

I’m really worried about the future of this country if him and his generation are going to RUN it some day—more like RUIN it am I right?  What are they going to do when another country has something they want?  Are we going to get in a fight just because “oooh I want that?”

They have no sense of right and wrong, no personal responsibility.  The only right is “I wanna” and the only wrong is “I don’t wanna.”

Maybe there is some redemption in store for them, maybe someone will come along and correct their flaws.  What We need is someone to teach this generation.  To give them the sense of tradition of millenials, the selflessness of the baby boomers, and the social morality and integrity of the ‘greatest’ generation.  I worry if this Silver Ipad Generation is left unchecked we’ll have an epidemic of whiny sociopaths screaming for any shiny thing that captures their attention.

Don’t just accept their smug looks when they get what they want, you must resist and remind them that America wasn’t built by a bunch of entitled brats just getting what they thought was theirs!  It was hard, honest work, and motivation, and healthy competition!

So what do you think about this newest generation?  Do you think they’re acting like a bunch of entitled babies?  Do you wish they would just start contributing to society already? Tell me in the comments.
