Superhero training, part 2

Kubla is ready to become a Hero. He’s ready to begin his Training.

“Do the Avengers fight bad guys all day?”
“No, the battles only last a few minutes.”
“That’s right,” I say. “What do heroes do the rest of the day?”
He thinks a moment. “They train!”
“Absolutely. Most policemen go their entire careers without ever firing their gun. Superheroes might only fight a supervillain once every few years. They spend hours and hours training, so that when the time comes, they’re ready.”

We do strength training. At four years old he can do one-handed push-ups.

We do speed training, running laps and sprints. Again. And again. And again.

We do bravery training, pushing his limits on backyard obstacle courses. Walk blindfolded across a room. Climb up a tree, then jump down onto a trampoline.

We do Combat Training. I teach him how to hit, kick, and block.

We do aerial combat training. He defends and attacks while I assault him on the jungle gym.

After a few days of training, he’s ready to go on patrol.

How would you train your little hero?

In two weeks I’ll give a free Kidorable Umbrella to whoever makes my favorite comment and shares this post on the platform of their choice.
