Haven't we been through this already with Bill Maher? Did we not already realize that Hollywood and the entertainment world resemble the mainstream media more than the country when it comes to their Political makeup? This isn't rocket surgery. Yet, here we are again watching the stars of Conservatism get into another staged outrage over what Chris Rock, a comedian, said about Mormons. During an appearance with Jimmy Fallon, Rock professed he had just recently learned that Mormons "believed black people were the Devil until 1978." Tell me why this passes for anything more than what it is, a bad joke by a Liberal, left-leaning comedian out to promote a movie?

Rock is a self-admitted high school dropout who earned a GED before going on to make himself one of the most well known cast members of Saturday Night Live and most popular comedians of our time. Never along the way did he pen any award winning literature on political theory nor should he be treated as such. So how about we Conservatives stop reacting to the opinions of those who differ from ours as the definitive view point of our political opposition? What they say may very well be absurd, but to an extent, that is their whole point.

The most prominent mouth-piece on the Right is Rush Limbaugh, a man who himself says he "confronts the absurd with the absurd", which in contrast is no different at times than what we hear from people like Rock and Maher. A wonderful, wise friend of mine once said that "Conservatives sometimes need to remember that they are Conservatives". Never is that more poignant here. I get the idea behind juxtaposing views, especially political ones in order to illustrate one's point. But let us go after the politicians and the individuals who are in the profession of political commentary that espouse those views or make those missteps, rather than the self-appointed know-it-alls of the entertainment world. There are more than enough of those people to go after and I have yet to meet anyone who says they look to Hollywood for political insight. If anyone does, I guarantee you they aren't cognizant enough to remember to vote. Time to "Grow Up" and stay focused on the message needed to dethrone King Obama in November. Do it.
