Last week I attended The Vintage Cinema Easter experience at Buckinghamshire’s Railway Centre, and it was un-bear-leavable!
Why am I using a bear reference to describe a cinematic experience? Well we went to watch the British family comedy Paddington directed by Paul King, released in 2014.
Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is on the outskirts of the county in the beautiful, vast countryside and is a huge hit amongst young families wanting to explore its gift shops, train exhibits and small cafe. The centre includes large express passenger locomotive exhibits, as well as humble shunting engines from the golden age. The perfect setting to watch Paddington bear work his loving magic…
Vintage Cinema hosts pop-up cinematic experiences across the Chilterns that bring elements of fun and interaction outside of the big screen. The main aim is to bring communities together and showcase film experiences for all audiences to enjoy, in a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
Upon arrival we explored the grounds (it’s not every day you visit a Railway Centre) and took some scenic photographs. We were then invited into the building to begin our ‘Beary’ fantastic evening.
The venue was completely decked out to look like a retro cinema, whilst the original decor of the centre went hand in hand with the theme. Even the attendees were dressed in uniform fitting to the occasion with classic matching hats and attire. The old posters were a particular favourite of mine that the venue displayed.
Paddington was on hand to serve Marmalade sandwiches, plus a bar that had offerings of old school pick ‘n’ mix treats galore.
When we went through to the screening we immediately noticed there was different seats depending on what ticket you purchased. We got led to the third row which consisted of purple cosy bean bags, blankets to nestle into and complimentary popcorn to tuck into.
The venue was perfect and the film was even more magical for that reason.
