The Rise Of Alt Ego
A few nights ago Dirty Pink City was invited to the launch of ALT EGO‘s album at the One & Only in Cape Town. The night kicked off in the hotel’s bar area with members of the media and local celebrities socialising over fine cocktails, wine and fancy canapés.
After a brief introduction by actor and comedian, Marc Lottering, the duo, cousins Callen Petersen and Jody Abel, took to the stage to perform their opening songs with rising rap star, Lakota Silva, and Matthew Gold.
Callen and Jody have combined their musical talents in 2010 to create an extraordinary combo named Acoustic Element. Wanting to explore a different side to Acoustic Element, they’ve stayed true to the acoustic feel of their instruments while exploring the “alter ego” of their own brand. The result: ALT EGO.
The two Capetonians use a guitar and violin on stage, combined with electronic beats, to create an energised, but stylish, dance act. The passion and enthusiasm they have for their music, which infuses some well-known classic melodies, are infectious, as they quickly had the entire audience moving to it.
ALT EGO has made a name for themselves in the Cape Town music scene in a short while, but just in time for Summer 2017/18 – Be sure to spot them at some popular events around the Mother City soon.
