All of A Sudden!!!

Time moves on and sometimes, we aren’t aware of that movement.  Then all of a sudden!!!

Fortunately for me, I’ve detected it.  And in advance enough to make sure I’ve got all my business tidied up before touching down in Portugal.

I’ve also noticed that my Portugal plans have evolved over the past 3 months.  One BIG thing was putting a restraint on the time there.  The original plan was to take about 3 months in each country, getting up close and personal.  Looking at about 4 years the way I was planning.

Then, I looked in my wallet but not at money…..I looked at my driver License.  It expires in 2020.  Now, I’ll have an International Driver License with me, but it’s only good for the term of my personal license.  So, what I’ll have to do is take another few months break from my traveling, set up house in Florida again, renew my license and pick up from where I left off…..or take on a new adventure.



Things seem sudden in this way too.  I’m studying my Portuguese, but lately I’ve skipped a day or two here and there and ……well, I need to grasp it a little better and I have my French to get back to.  While trying to enjoy myself here (and I do try), I need to prioritize these language studies particularly since I’ll be traveling faster (not spending as much time in each destination) and I figure I’ll just be at the mercy of German’s and the fine folks of Greece.

I’ve also had to revamp my northern and western exploration…..Gibraltor will be the only U.K. soil I’ll set foot on, Turkey has been slashed as well as Norway, Finland, and Sweden.  Hanging on by a thin margin is Cairo, Egypt and I’m thinking that won’t happen either.

The sudden change in the length of stay also makes the trip more expensive.  How?  More moving around.  Less time in one place means more transportation cost and I miss out on the discount of a more lengthy stay in lodging.

There is one thing that could change this…..and honestly, that’s what I’m hoping for.  And that’s no return to the states and falling in love with a country and culture so deeply that I won’t want to leave.  But, I have to be honest with my heart.  I fall in love with most the places I’ve been already.



Living in Europe, I don’t see as a drawback from living in the U.S.  I may be speaking out-of-order here…..but, traveling between countries I find exciting and alluring.

Now, all of a sudden I have to augment my plans.  It’s not bad, I’ve about finished up with Portugal and although Spain and France are much larger…..using travel guidebooks and such helps.

I’m thinking that shortening the trip may allow me to focus on more of what I want to experience which really isn’t the tourist thing.  I’m gonna grab hold of the essence of each country.  I’ll write faster, more often and I’m sure my photography will involve some of the uncommon and unique sites.

All of A Sudden!!!

I haven’t mentioned working on my CD!!!  I’ve got the music but I’m wasting my time.  And I will be carrying equipment with me, but I’ll be limited.  I’m hoping to play as I travel.  There are some restrictions which I’m working thru but, I think I can get it done.  I want to pick up on the sounds of each country and incorporate that in my recordings.  The challenges are fun….

I’ve the time on my hands for the CD, but I’m not enjoying my environment nor set-up which leads me to believe that I need a change of venue.  I’m thinking that venue will be back in Florida.  So, I’ll be doing the CD in a last-minute rush.



I’ll try to do better than that…..

Time is short, more to do….more than I thought.

Plus, I’ll be in the Appalachian’s next weekend……gosh!
