Happy Easter Sunday! (Links)

Easter is the holiest day in the Christian calendar. It signals the resurrection of Christ from the dead — following his crucifixion. But I feel like the true significance of Easter is often lost. Like many other holidays, it has become a time of self-indulgence. So much of the focus around Easter goes to frivolous activities like buying pastel-colored outfits, planning easter egg hunts, and consuming a ton of candy.

According to the National Confectioner's Association, Easter is the second most candy-consuming holiday of the year — next to Halloween. Americans are expected to spend a record $18.4 billion this Easter!

As much as I like snacking on peeps, for me, Easter is a time for self-reflection. What does it mean to you?

Also, do you have any plans this weekend? my mom will be making her version of the feast of the seven fishes this Sunday— it's more like the feast of five fishes ;) Oh, and I'm making my spicy buttered shrimp. See the recipe, here.

And, some random links around the web...
