In the beginning...

Writing your first blog post is the hardest thing to do.  Where do you start?  What do you say?  How much information should I give about myself?  So I guess I’ll just write whatever comes to mind.
I live in a small town in Oklahoma that has a population of about 500 people.  I came here about 2 years ago, not knowing that I would ever stay.  Originally, I’m not a country girl at all.  I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and spent my summers with my family in New Jersey.  I always hated the city though, and found it very overwhelming.

I always found solace when we went to visit our family friends in North Carolina.  I always told my mom that I wanted to live in the country and have a farm with horses.  My mom was a teacher, so her response my wanting this was usually, “That’s nice honey; just make sure you get an education first.  Then you can do whatever your heart desires.”  I did make my mom happy by going to College and getting a B.S. in Chemistry.

Once I graduated from college I went to visit my college roommate who was from Oklahoma.  I didn’t know anything about Oklahoma when I came here, but once I arrived I was amazed by how beautiful it is.  The amount of open space and open land in Oklahoma is incredible, and every sunset is like a painting.
I do live on a farm, and I do have horses.  So, I did somewhat make my dream come true, but I’m sure you notice in my header that is says I live in a haunted house.  Well, that’s a story for another day.  I have lived my whole life with a sixth sense, and it’s not a blessing at all.  Again, another story for another day.

Even though I love living in Oklahoma and living in a rural area, adjusting to it is not easy.  I’m use to having everything I need only a 2 minute car ride away.  When you live in the country, going shopping can be an all day event.  It takes me 45 minutes to drive to Wal-mart or a shopping center.  There are stores and things in my town, but mostly mom and pop shops or specialty stores.  Everything just takes a little bit more time and planning than I’m use to, but that’s life and I’m getting use to it.

Living in the country isn’t as boring as you may believe, and with my life, that’s always something going on.  I hope that you find my life as entertaining as I do and follow along with me on my adventures.
