Some time ago, we made the (easy for me, harder for my husband) decision to homeschool our children. We're not doing it for Religious reasons. I'm not religious. We're doing it because we think we can do a much better job than the public school system. No one cares about our kids as much as we do. No one knows our kids as well as we do. We're both well educated people with a wide variety of interests. If our kids develop an interest in something we can't help them with, we'll find someone who can help them. And for those of you out there worried about socialization, there are plenty of groups we can get the kids involved in, if they have the interest. Local sports, Girl/Boy Scouts, etc.

We have a 4 1/2 year old girl, Julia, and an 18 month old boy, Jack. Julia would start Kindergarten next fall, but of course we'll teach her at home. We've started very mildly doing homeschool-like activities. She loves to learn, and seeks out learning activities most of the time. Next fall we'll start more in earnest. I have a few books on homeschooling, including one describing how to get off on the right foot for the first year, and one helping you create a curriculum from Kindergarden through 12th grade.

Please join us on our journey.
