New Year, New Room

It's weird to think that the last time I blogged was back in May. A lot took place in that space of almost four months of not blogging. Let's just say life was hectic with this and that I wouldn't know where to start and end with it all so I decide to just remain in the present and tell things as they are happening.

So new year (academic year! I'm now a fourth year medical student!) brings me into a new room! It's always my favourite part to decorate the new room at the beginning of the year because given the possible stress I'm likely to be under given the degree I'm doing, I like a comfortable and cozy room to come back to. Nothing heals a tired mind and soul better than a good and relaxing sleep and a good bedroom is crucial for that.

So here goes:

yup, I live in Buckingham Palace =p!
welcome to Rainbow land!

photos of family, friends and cats
bookshelf with lotsa unread books...hopefully I'll have more time to read this year
motto to live by for the year - live well, love much, laugh often
oslo, porky, fluffy, monty and hoppy
loving my spongebob duvet cover...and the new mattress...and the bolster pillow =p

Oxford Medical Dictionary and the BNF on the bedside table
the other bedside table

fairy lights around the attic window - I've always wanted an attic room, yay!

work station that will never be used
The room is certainly a lot smaller than the previous ones I have had (I had an entire studio flat all to myself last year) but I love the cozy new room and its new mattress. Really springy and bouncy I tell you!

I also have an extra bedroom this year. Since I gets the smallest attic room with no wardrobe, I get to use the extra bedroom that has a walk-in wardrobe. The house has six bedrooms but due to some city council rules about one washbasin and whatnot, only 5 people are allowed to live in the house so I get to use the spare room as my parlour.

At the moment, BFF Java is living in the room before she heads down to London to complete her degree.

Here goes the spare room:
the bed full of Java's stuff

dressing table full of Java's stuff...and my fedoras
love my beanies

the wardrobe
And here goes the other areas in the house:

the living room plus the 40" LCD TV!
the kitchen
the spices I brought all the way from home!
So that's it. Another new (academic) year starts with another new room and many other exciting and interesting things to look forward to.

So far, almost 4 weeks into my 4th year, things seem to be going pretty well with all the spare times in the timetable plus a day off every Wednesday! Comparing that to 3rd year when we were made to work like crazy every day what with on-calls and presentations every 2 weeks and assessment every month or so, 4th year seems like a honeymoon year indeed! I'm lovin' it so far!

Till next time =p!
