DONKEY, DOG and the WASHERMAN

In the past few days I received this forwarded mail many times.

It's good and well written, makes you think the current job-scenario in the private organizations and the work-culture. But it made me think, that it was written by whom, the DONKEY or the DOG. The close analysis may reveal some important points...

  • With the published scenario, the logic tells that the post was written by the DONKEY, who in-spite of having very low potential mistakenly did a good job , but after all DONKEY is a DONKEY.
  • If the DONKEY is really exceptionally talented, then the story should be altered a bit.
  • In-spite of being 'well educated man from a premier management institute', how can the WASHERMAN do such a blunder. If he was having such a bigger picture he should have been fired the DOG, who failed big time in doing his job as per the goal setting and being a WELL BELOW EXPECTATION. No WASHERMAN can be so foolish to feed his DOGs or DONKEYs, if they don't perform their job properly. So on the first instance, it was the DOG who lost by losing his job.
  • The DONKEY of-course did a good job. He cared for the WASHERMAN and pro-actively took the responsibility of the DOG, who failed in his duty. He deserved 'hay and other perks'.
  • Rating the DONKEY as star performer is justified, as he took care of the duties other than what was assigned to him, also it was a pro-active step.
  • The WASHERMAN hired (should have been hired) another DOG, because even though DONKEY took care of some other responsibilities in the time of crisis, WASHERMAN knew that it was not his area of expertize and it is not the sustainable model.
  • The new DOG was good, he met the requirement and enjoyed a okay life in his new space.
  • The expectation from the DONKEY were set high, because of his attitude, pro-activeness and initiatives. He must have been enjoyed good salary hike. The appreciations he got and the high expectation must have been filled him with new energy.
  • With the new benchmarks and high expectation, also possible the the may be burdened with work. But because of the high potential, he will meet the new standard. Even though he doesn't exceed expectations still, he can enjoy the benefits he got.
  • In the worst case, the DONKEY will be looking for the new job and soon he'll get a new one with the good amount of salary hike. The DONKEY knows, that this is the competitive world and is for survival of the fittest.
  • After losing the job, the DOG may still be looking for the new job as a loser.
