Five (Plus Five) Fun Facts for Friday!

1. Worcestershire Sauce is basically an Anchovy ketchup. (I knew I didn’t like it for a reason.) :)

2. Lincoln Logs were invented by Frank Lloyd Wright's son. (Like father like son, only on a smaller scale.) :)

3. The city of Mt. Vernon, Washington grows more tulips than the entire country of Holland. (Either Holland doesn’t make as many tulips as I thought, or Mt. Vernon makes a whole LOT of tulips). :)

4. There are almost twice as many people in Rhode Island than there are in Alaska. (What a trip, but not surprising when I think about it.)

5. Ralph Lauren's original name was Ralph Lifshitz. (No wonder why he changed his name.) :)

**Bonus Facts:

*The white part of your fingernail is called the  lunula. (There’s seriously a name for everything isn’t there?) :)

*The ball on top of a flagpole is called the truck. (Huh, wonder why?)

*An animal epidemic is called an epizootic. (Now this  word is just fun to say!) :)

New Yorker’s probably know these last ones, but I always wondered how these neighborhoods got their names, so I threw them in anyway!

*Tribeca stands for TRIangle BElow CAnal street.

*Soho stands for SOuth of HOuston street.

Today’s facts were provided by Deb and Jen’s Land O’ Useless Facts! Thanks ladies!
