IPOB May Reverse No-Election Order In Anambra

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, may reverse the no-election order he issued in Anambra State, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

Kanu, who met with the leadership of Ala Igbo Development Foundation in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Friday, over the boycott order issued by IPOB on the Anambra State election, said the decision to reverse the order would be considered by the entire IPOB members not himself.

He said he had honoured the invitation based on the respect he had for Igbo elders.

He insisted that his agitation for a sovereign state of Biafra was based on justice, equity and fairness.

“I came because of my respect for elders. IPOB is not a violent group. We are law abiding citizens of the society.

“What we discussed here today will guide us on the issue of Anambra election. I will go and meet with the leadership of IPOB,” he said.

The President of Ala Igbo Development Foundation, Prof. Uzodimma Nwala, said that the meeting was to find a way of bringing lasting peace in Anambra State over the forthcoming election in the state.

Nwala said, “You can see our brother, Nnamdi Kanu, in our midst. We have come to discuss the issue of mutual concern, especially on the Anambra election. We are happy he is here with us.

“We are glad he has explained to us the reason the boycott order was issued and that it was not his personal decision but that of the IPOB leadership. We are meeting for the first time and will still meet again. No decision has been taken (yet).”
