Viral fever

The bright sunny days were soon Replaced by cold winter nights. The breeze became pleasant, rains more frequent, sleep more peaceful and the aura of the ridiculous summer was soon replaced by winter vibe. It definitely was the time to cherish irrespective of how classes had become more intense with more emphasis on how we were inching towards becoming a doctor.

Four years in medical college trains your mind to isolate the rays of sunshine in an otherwise dark sky and that's what I was good at.

Someone somewhere had other plans. A million times smaller in size and a zillion times more evil a virus took birth. And it had one job for the day. To infect me and destroy that thin  silver lining that I was clinging on to. The early morning was ruined by the prodrome of lassitude, body pain and loss of appetite.

It took a great deal of will power to even make it to class, only to fall asleep shamelessly later.

The gradually worsening sequence of events merely forced me to get back to my hostel room. The sleep that ensued was blissful. When I woke up about six hours had passed and it was mate evening. I was feeling much better.

Outside, nothing had changed. Each person was busy with his own life either worried, tired and confused or happy, carefree and jubilant.

Funny how I felt so different from school. In school a Fever meant a holiday which used to give me so much of joy. Now I missed the chaos that each day offered. Perhaps I was getting there, mentally, to becoming a health care provider.

I popped in a paracetamol and went to eat.
