My favourite face mask!

Hello Wednesday, hello readers.

I have something new for you today. I have a little review on one of my favourite products which is not something I have attempted before. The reason for this being that I don’t know how good I’ll be at reviewing products, particularly beauty products since I am definitely no expert on the matter. But I then thought, you know what why not have a go and sure, if it’s not very well written or explanatory it doesn’t really matter because my blog doesn’t get seen by that many people anyway so not too many people can be offended by its faults.

The product I am going to attempt to review is my Favourite Face Mask of the last year: The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask.

I am not the kind of person to have a ‘skincare routine’. For one thing, I don’t have the time and especially now I’m taking on motherhood too (as well as working two jobs) it’s just not a feasible idea. Secondly, it is so expensive to have to keep buying these products over and over and over again in order to keep up a daily routine. And thirdly, I actually feel like it is better for your skin not to be treated daily with various lotions and potions that supposedly all do different things.

I prefer to pamper myself every once in a while with different products I find. Just like they say that you shouldn’t use the same shampoo and conditioner on your hair every time (which I am a huge advocate of – changing my shampoo and conditioner every few washes does my hair wonders) I also think that you should swap and change what you use on your skin to keep it happy and healthy.

I would say I probably ‘pamper’ my skin once or twice a month – tops – and it makes the whole process that much nicer and just that extra bit luxurious because it’s no longer a chore. I like to do it with a nice bubble bath and a good book.

Anyway, the face mask that I have been loving since summer 2016 (yes it’s lasted me that long and I still have loads left) is The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask. This is literally like a pot of jam and it feels so nice on the skin. I like to apply it with a simple flat foundation brush which works really well but it could be put on with anything, fingers and all.

The runny jam-like product is super cooling when first applied to the skin and I tend to leave it on for about forty to forty-five minutes (about the length of my bath) before simply wiping off with a soft flannel – the Primark ‘luxury face cloths’ are amazing just saying. Once you’ve taken the mask off your skin feels so clean and fresh and soft it’s unreal and it doesn’t dry your face out at all which I have found a lot of face masks do. I finish up my little pampering session by applying an overnight moisturiser (again, I always use whatever’s cheap at the time) and in the morning I still feel refreshed and radiant and very very pampered.

This product comes in five different ‘designs’ – for want of a better word. The alternative four are:

  • Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask
  • Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask
  • British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask
  • Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask

As you can see, each one is supposed to do a different thing. I haven’t tried any of the others but I can strongly recommend the Amazonian Acai one as it does leave my skin feeling radiated as it claims.

So there is my short, probably not too helpful review on my favourite face mask. It costs £16 per pot, which to me is a lot of money to be spending on one thing but since it’s already lasted me nearly a year, I feel okay spending the money on something that does the job well for a long time.

I hope you enjoyed my little review and I hope that maybe it’s helped some of you decide whether this is your kind of product or not.

See you soon!
