Forgotten Worlds - A Forgotten Story

Ding Dong!
I hurried over to the door, tripping over the cat, falling into the closet, and bashing my head on a hook. Cursing, I opened the door to see a fat man in a FedEx jacket. “Delivery for Mr, Alan R. Fuller,” He grumbled, “I’m gonna need you to sign right here. Cool name by the way.” I handed him the device as fast as I could. ”Thanks.”
The fat man wheeled a package about the size of a bookshelf in the house on a dolly. I picked it up off the dolly with tremendous effort, waddled over to my couch, and set the box on top. The fat man was back again, this time with a smaller box. He tossed the box to me, and for a heart stopping moment, I thought I wasn’t going to catch it. “Dude!” I yelled. “Sorry. Whaddaya reckon’s in there?”
“It’s an Eden set. What do you care?”
“Just wonderin’. That’s that thing where you strap yer’ brain to the helmet and you can control yer’ dreams and stuff”
“Um, sort of. Anyhow, how come you’re still in my house?
“I dunno.” He shrugged and patted his belly. ”You got anything to eat ‘round here?”
“Out.” I demanded.
“Ok.” He started to leave, then thought better and turned back around, “My name’s Daryl, if you wanna catch a beer sometime.”
“Um, ok”
“Cya”
Daryl the friendly delivery man finally left after using my bathroom and grabbing a bag of chips.
I opened the larger box and pulled out a Chair made completely out of transparent plastic. You could see the wires and circuitry inside the chair. It had glass armrests with straps made of some kind of woven steel. A silver wire protruded out the back of the chair. I threw the operator's manual away and plugged the wire into the wall. The transparent plastic clouded over, leaving the chair a milky white.
I pulled out the headset from the smaller box. Thankfully, it wasn't broken. I set it on the chair and the silver hinges snapped together neatly. The headset slid back behind the chair with a whirring noise. Finally I removed the gel pads from the box. They had a magnetic backing that connected with the arms of the chair, right where my hands would go. I attached them to the chair and green light shone from behind the clouded surface of the machine.
At last, it was time. I sat down on the chair, placed my hands on the gel pads, and pressed the foot pedal. At once, the headset lowered itself onto my head. The headset had a rubber seal around my neck, so I couldn’t see anything now.
“Five,” said a cool female voice, “Four. Three. Two. One.”

I woke up so many minutes, hours, years later. All perception of time was lost. I looked around me, but saw nothing but white. I could make out the floor, which was a more reflective  white, but everything else was just… white. Even what I could see of my body was white, just with a black outline. A blue semi transparent window appeared in front of my face.
Welcome to your EDEN system.
Please select your first game.
A drop down menu appears, containing two titles, EDEN Help, and The Forgotten World. I press on the Forgotten World icon, and the entire world around me disappears, this time into the darkness. After a few seconds, another window appears.

Would you like to change your name?
I’d have to give this one some thought. My name in some other MMO’s (Saga Of Siege, Hall of Heroes) was usually something stupid, like xXShadow_Dude11Xx, because other names were taken. In Forgotten World, you could choose any name you wanted, because of the Player ID system. I thought about a few names, but ultimately decided to stick with Alan. I could always change my name later if I wanted to.
Please select your class.
Finally! Class selection. This choice would affect my gameplay for as long as I played Forgotten World. I swiped open the menu, only to be completely overwhelmed by all of the choices. There were thousands of classes, ranging from Rock Chucker to Mentalist. There were some of the classics, like Rogue and Paladin, and then other, stranger ones, like the aforementioned Rock Chucker. I pressed the sort option, sorting the classes by type, and excluding the non-fighting classes.

Interesting. There are a lot of classes still, even after sorting them. There were a few classes that caught my eye, Dragon Knight, Illusionist, and Oban.

Dragon Knight
Dragon Knights are versatile hunters, using a range of weapons and magical gadgets, along with the unique powers gifted to them by the dragons, for their undying loyalty to a dragon lord. Dragon Knights specialize in attack, both magically and physically, but can still take some blows. Dragon Knights can evolve into three branches: Dragon trainer, Dragon hunter, and Dragon Zealot. Dragon trainers breed and tame lesser dragons to do their bidding, with the help of their familiar, a greater dragon. Dragon hunters slaughter dragons to gain their knowledge and power, eventually being able to become a dragon. Dragon zealots have the backing of an entire religion, and are far more adept at magic than any other dragon knights.

Illusionist
Illusionist are magicians who can manifest their imagination in reality through magic. They can summon objects at will limited only by their imagination and their mana. Illusionists can be incredibly powerful when fighting non-magi, as their illusions are impenetrable to the mundane eye. Illusionists have no subclasses, due to their already limitless ability. Illusionists can, however, progress to a certain degree in other magic forms, which can serve to augment or hinder their innate abilities.

Oban
Oban are an elite and little known group of fighters who have learned to integrate magic into martial art forms, making them the ultimate duelists. Oban do not focus on any one strength, instead becoming adaptable to any situation. Legends tell of Oban who could take down armies single handedly. Unfortunately, the secret to this ultimate power has been lost to time, only discoverable by an Oban warrior. Somewhere in the path to physical perfection, an Oban should stumble upon this hidden legacy. Oban do not have any subclasses, only different martial art forms.

I’d kinda lost interest in the illusionist after reading the description, but the Dragon Knight definitely looked interesting. The Oban looked awesome, but I didn’t like the fact that there was no subclasses. After pondering my dilemma for a moment (I was never good at making choices) I decided to leave it to chance. I closed my eyes, spun around in a circle, and poked the air.
“You have finalized your character” the cool female voice rang out, “Name: Alan, Class: Oban, Race: To be determined.” It looks like I got the Oban after all. The world again dissolved into nothing.

I woke up lying in the grass, the sun shining on my face. How did I get out of my capsule? I thought, then a window appeared in front of my face.
