On May 10th, The Last Poets will release their album Transcending Toxic Times via Ropeadope. Today, the group unveiled the album’s first single “For The Millions,” with Rolling Stone saying “despite the track’s grim subject matter, a steady funk groove… adds a sense of resilience.” Formed in 1968, The Last Poets are heralded as the godfathers of hip hop alongside the likes of Gil Scott-Heron.
