Rubblebucket – Fruity

Brooklyn-born pop duo Rubblebucket have put together one of my favourite jam of the summer so far with ‘Fruity’, the first cut from their upcoming suitably titled album ‘Sun Nation’.

It’s a hazy, soporific slice of sunshine, with Kalmia Traver’s colourful and upbeat narrative interspersed with smoky horns. It’s not what you would expect as the first single from a breakup record, but that’s exactly what it is, with Traver and bandmate Alex Toth deciding to finally uncouple and start to once again enjoy their creative freedom without the battles of their relationship.

Rubblebucket – Fruity is out now on Grand Jury Music
