John started playing Bass when he was 14 years old and soon after started playing with various groups throughout his high school days in Atlanta’s suburbs.  After high school, John did not play in many bands; however, he kept busy by writing songs on his bass guitar.  In 2012 Professor John played his first gig as a drum and bass duo, and in 2013, his debut EP, Funk in Session, was released.  John knew he wanted to expand his sound, so he found a way to have great musical productions while performing as a solo artist.  Since then, Professor John has played in a variety of venues and festivals around the South East.
