A real ring of Nanci Griffiths about this track, a free and easy persona that feels like it was recorded on a mountaintop. The clarity is palpable and given this was the first track I’ve had my better half comment on positively all year I couldn’t but declare my undenying love too. ‘I Think I Died’ was recorded in Nashville, rather than a mountaintop but that seemed to be only part of the reason why it sounds this good, Mississippi’s Gracie Hays being the substantial other ingredient that accounts for its success.
