Something that should be cleared before I start with regularly scheduled posts. What is all of this about? What am I trying to achieve? Is this just another review blog? 

My blog focuses on something I’ll refer to as ‘the ultimate song experience‘. The ultimate song experience combines lyric and music critical reviewing, going over specific structure and compositional choices that work in the given context, the choices made when the song was being recorded and how it affected the piece. Many other minute details that stand out to me while doing my research will be featured. I will be giving myself a certain topic for each track, trying to interpret it through the lyrics, the artist’s background and influences, the song’s place and role in the full length record it is from or discography of the artist.
TLDR; I will be be giving myself essay-esque topics and a song to base my evidence in proving my point. Therefore, research backed song reviews focused on a particular topic and not just the song in general. Written mainly in the style of a case study.

An example of such a topic is the first post that will be going live this week: The impossible love in the song ‘See You Again’ by Tyler, The Creator.

How is this any different than genius.com?

I will be trying to start a discussion with the readers while staying on topic without blabbering for too long with no evidence and reference to support my claims. Creating case studies that spark ideas and questions about music in general. It’s more of a thought journey, not really aiming to get to the bottom of anything. More like just scratching the surface and letting your imagination take you to your own conclusions and ideas, while still having enough of information and research to keep you interested and provide content that is not just fiction. Keep in mind, these articles will be heavily influenced by my own personal opinions, not claiming that they are right, rather showing you my point of view.

Other articles will be focusing on a trend or a general music topic that is affecting the sound of mainstream music in general. Examples of such topics are ‘Dancehall is all the rage, but why?’ and ‘When did music start getting bass heavy?’. Random questions that allow me to express my opinion while still having a fact-backed argument on the subject.

The ultimate song experience is a thought-provoking voyage in the realm of music and poetry.
