An Insight Into A Young, Exciting Band With 'Mate' By Airways

Tags: band thieves
‘Mate’ is the latest single from Airways’ debut EP ‘Starting to Spin’. The Peterborough-based Band has released a black and white video to accompany the track, which was filmed while the band were on tour in America, supporting Nothing But Thieves and at UK headline shows. You can see the band performing at packed shows and also their backstage shenanigans, including doing press-ups before a performance. The song was actually co-produced by Nothing But Thieves guitarist Dom Craik and Julian Emery (who has worked with Lower than Atlantis and Simple Plan).
“I’m out here in the rain and life is throwing stones at me” is an example of the type of gritty-storytelling lyrics the band is becoming known for. They also have a knack for creating bona fide indie hits, which ‘Mate’ looks set to become. The band has a natural charm and likeable personality which has led to comparisons with Arctic Monkeys and Jamie T.
The ‘Starting to Spin’ EP has already had up to 4 million streams so far and the band has supported The Hunna and Nothing But Thieves, among others. They are going on a UK tour with The Xcerts and will be releasing fresh new material later in the year.
Airways is one of the most exciting new bands and definitely ones to watch this year.
