(Unfortunate) Redesign for 2019 Camaro

Constantly following in the steps of their Ford competitor, the Chevy Camaro is getting a new look for the 2019 model.

Featuring a new grill that, for some reason, brings it in line with the rest of the Bowtie family (since when you think Camaro, you also want to think Cruze.)

The rear-end is also getting redone, giving it a decidedly plastic-y look.

Opinion isn’t that hot on the new look, but it’s important to remember that the Camaro reboot has never been attractive. It’s too overdone: bulbous and exaggerated with a preposterously small greenhouse.

Anyway, there are mild variations on the outside for the different levels, mostly involving tinting the rear lights. That’s a biggie. Also, the 2019 Camaro RS and SS both get 20″ wheels, so there’s that.

The big news is the introduction of the Turbo 1LE. Unlike the V6 1LE, the SS 1LE or the ZL1 1LE (Jesus Christ, Camaro-buyers, have some shame) the Turbo 1LE will be a more ‘track-ready’ V6 1LE. It gets a 2.0L four-banger with a ,surprise surprise, turbo bolted on, good for 275hp and 295lb-ft or torque. A manual six-speed is the sole transmission.

Soon to be announced will be the 2019 Camaro Turbo 1LE Autobot edition featuring factory-applied Transformer decals, cause those are the kinds of people that will buy this.
