The Ugly Breaking Bad Pontiac Aztek Is Actually A Pretty Cool Car

But only on the inside…

There is no argument that the Pontiac Aztek, the car used by Walter White “Heisenberg” of Breaking Bad is a pretty awfully-designed car from the outside. In fact, if there were a list of the worse designed cars in the history of automobiles, the Aztek would easily find its place amongst the top contenders in the list. The exterior double-bonnet styling made no sense. And while General Motors imagined that the Aztek would be one of the cars that had the potential to rescue them from debts, it instead became one of the final nails that would lead them to bankruptcy.

Even today when the world has gotten more and more used to seeing unconventional design, where some cars are straight out concepts put into production (eg. BMW i8), the Pontiac Aztek’s shape doesn’t sink in with the eyes as naturally pleasing. That being said, the Aztek is by far one of the most versatile cars that one could have bought back then simply by considering the incredible features it was being offered with on the inside.

As demonstrated in this video by Doug DeMuro on YouTube, some of the Aztek’s features and quirks are genuinely unique. For instance, the car had a drinks cooler that doubles as the centre console, which is so ingenious that I wonder why no other car has tried it before. Watch the video below as Doug takes you on a tour of this weird, yet widely versatile car.
