The only difference between Visualizations and Dreams is that Visualizations are a Conscious-Subconscious Collaboration of the Minds interpretation of feedback from the Spiritual World - not necessarily of the Soul, but of Logic and Differentiation...
Whereas Dreams and Nightmares are unconscious Meditated displays of instinctual or Spiritual Interpretation although of which depending on the level of REM-Sleep and Unconscious-level the "third-eye" remains open - and of course, based on other "mind factors" like the Emotion that you have BEFORE you sleep (Fear etc) will influence the "design" of the Dream/Nightmare.
Dreams and Nightmares are *rarely* "future events" or Premonitions or Prophecies BUT they can OFTEN (or mostly) REFLECT - a *possible path* if the unconscious Mind is not biased by a strong Emotion or a noradrenergic agent (stimulant) or Stress-response (Stress) before Sleep.
Therefore your Mind is a Projection based on what you put into it...that is, a melting-pot, a form of Alchemy to see what works. A collaborative effort and in a sense, a form of a Chemical "Scale" that is especially sensitive to "tipping"...and the Dream and Visualization is a Projection Rising from the Middle of the Scale - whatever 'weight' is on each side - influences the Magnitude and Surreality of the Projected Image.
