Breathe New Life into an Older Trade Show Exhibit

Even though the actual season has passed – it’s never too late to do a little spring cleaning. If you find that your trade show display is showing a little (or a lot of) wear and tear, here are a few ways to jazz it up and get that Exhibit looking shiny and new.

Update Graphics

This is one of the quickest and easiest ways to radically change the look of your display. It’s even likely that your exhibit is designed so it’s easy to swap new graphics in and out.

There are any number of reasons to make this change. Perhaps your marketing campaign has changed. Or maybe you are promoting a new product line or service. Maybe the company has gone through a rebranding or simply made slight changes to your brand’s image. Perhaps you want to tailor your messaging to a specific audience. Or you’ve noticed some dings and scratches on your existing visuals.Whatever the reason, changing out the graphics will have an immediate impact on your display.

Improve Lighting

It’s amazing what the right light can do when it shines on your products and graphics. Lighting can help you set the mood, whether you want a dynamic presentation or a calm, relaxed atmosphere. It can help draw attention to your exhibit and then direct that attention where you want it to go.

There are as many options for new lighting – including color changing lights, lightboxes, and LED accents – as there are choices for where and how you use them – such as dramatically lighting up a banner or subtly accenting a table.

Even a little change in lighting can make a big impression.

Counter Revolution

Surfaces, like reception counters, see a lot of action. And, over time they will become chipped or faded. A good way to update your countertops is to remove the old laminate and add a fresh, new layer. Then spruce that up by adding a soft accent of strip lighting under the counter. You could also make the front pop with light box containing branded graphics.

Similarly, your aluminum elements also become chipped and dinged through excessive use. These can be refinished through a powder coating. The result is material that looks good as new.

Signage of the Times

Literally rise above your competition by adding a hanging banner to your display. This is an incredibly easy and effective way to give your exhibit a new look while adding an element that’s sure to attract attention. With a hanging display you can easily be spotted from anywhere on the show floor.

Another option is to include a fabric tower display. These lightweight, modular towers can be placed anywhere in an exhibit and their graphics can be easily swapped between (or during) events.

Four on the Floor

Believe it or not, visitors to your exhibit definitely notice your floor. Nice flooring that complements the design and colors of your display while reinforcing your brand sets the stage for the attendees. Conversely, shabby, threadbare, and dated flooring sends the wrong message. Fortunately, flooring is one of those things that can easily be swapped out and refurbished – and updated flooring can make a dramatic difference to your exhibit.

Today, you have more options than ever before, including carpet, rollable vinyl, interlocking pieces, hardwood, and more in a variety of patterns and colors to create stunning flooring displays.

Up-to-Date Furnishing

Is your seating rickety? Have the springs sprung from your cushions? Think about trading up to more contemporary furnishings. There are several options to spruce up your display while bringing comfort to your guests, including these lightweight, inflatable chairs that look great, feel comfortable, and blow up in less than a minute.

Go Reconfigure

It is possible to reconfigure the physical layout of your display, which will make a noticeable change the appearance and functionality of your exhibit without needing to build something new.

Or if you don’t want to take such a drastic step, you could add modular components, like counters and towers, that will alter the look from show to show. These modular pieces can be purchased or rented depending on your needs.

Add Interactivity

For those looking for a more efficient way to educate people about their products or services, a touch screen kiosk will fit the bill. These free-standing, Wi-Fi enabled, touch screen kiosks are available in two configurations: a black, vertical kiosk with a 55” screen or a white, horizontal kiosk with a 49” screen.

Whether direct access to a website, access to multiple product or service demos, or a looping company presentation is desired, your digital and interactive content options are endless. Even better, The Trade Group can create the content for the kiosks – imagery, videos, animations and more – so it arrives ready, plug-and-play, at any live event.

Touch screen kiosks are an impressive, high-tech, attractive way for visitors to search for information and watch presentations about your goods and services.

Accessorize

The little details all add up to have a great impact on the visitors to your display. While the main personality of your exhibit is displayed through the big features (graphics, flooring, lighting, etc.), the small touches help to complement your brand personality and add amenities that guests appreciate.

Sometimes, it’s the right accessory that really ties the exhibit together. Plus, they can be mixed and matched at will. How could the following augment your display?

  • Literature stands make it easy for visitors to grab collateral so they can learn about your business
  • Charging stations ensure visitors spend some time in your area while their mobile devices are powering up
  • Comfortable chairs give those guests a place to wait and add a cozy feel to your exhibit
  • Branded tables and furniture add to the atmosphere you are trying to create
  • Feather flags can attract attention and serve as wayfinding guides for guests

When it comes time for you spring cleaning, make sure to perform a thorough examination of your display. Do you notice any tears, scratches, or notches that need to be fixed? Find the areas in need of repair or a good cleaning. Where and what are the graphic elements that need to be updated? Are lights out or could any areas use some brightening up?

What about your existing elements? Are there ways that your current layout could be altered or shifted to present a new look?

Spring cleaning doesn’t just have to be limited to your display. This is also a good time to review your existing exhibit strategy and see if there are any areas in need of an update.

Are you happy with your current schedule? Are there shows that could be cut or added that would give your brand better opportunities?

Try to take a holistic view of your marketing operations. Are there parts that no longer work like they once did? Could these be augmented with new technologies, like lead generation software, that would make them more efficient?

Spending even a little time on your exhibit (and exhibiting program) can make it appear bright and new. For more tips or some help updating your display, give The Trade Group a call at 800-343-2005.
