Best Buy Children’s Foundation
Community Grants Program (Various locations)
Deadline: August 1, 2011
Best Buy seeks applications from organizations that have current 501(c)(3) tax status and are serving a diverse population of young teens in the areas of learning, life skills and leadership. Special consideration will be given to programs that provide youth with access to opportunity through technology. Additional criteria include:
- Serve a diverse population in local or regional communities
- Build social, academic, leadership and/or life skills in early adolescents (primarily ages 13-17)
- Show positive results against a demonstrated community need
- Reach at-risk children in working families
Grants average $4,000- $6,000 and will not exceed $10,000. Nonprofits located within 50 miles of a Best Buy store or Regional Distribution Center are eligible to apply. Grants will be awarded for one year. Special consideration will be given to programs that provide youth with access to opportunity through technology.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
New Jersey Community Enhancement
Deadline: July 28
Grants in this program are aimed at strengthening the core organizational capacity of community-based organizations providing social, health and human services to historically disadvantaged populations in New Jersey. Project funds will support organizations that serve people in low-resourced communities by aiding the development and implementation of strategies to improve program management, evaluation, and sustainability.
Awards of up to $150,000 are available. Eligible entities must be nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status that are based in New Jersey.

The Fedex Social Responsibility Program is committed to supporting the communities that the company serves. Their support may include financial contributions, in-kind charitable shipping services, and volunteers services by FedEx team members. Areas of interest include emergency and disaster relief, child pedestrian safety, and sustainability.

Healthy Kids, Healthy Families is a three-year initiative designed to improve the health and wellness of at least one million children through community investments by Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) and its Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas.
The Healthy Kids, Healthy Families initiative will invest in and partner with nonprofit organizations that offer sustainable, measurable programs to reach children and their families in the following areas:
- Nutrition education
- Physical activity
- Disease prevention and management
- Supporting safe environments
HSHC Access to Care Grants are matching/challenge grants supporting local service initiatives that provide dental care to children in underserved or limited access areas. Special consideration for programs that have demonstrated success and/or have potential for replication in other communities. Initiatives demonstrating collaborations with other institutions and organizations will be given priority consideration.Awards of up to $20,000 per year are available. Eligible entities include nonprofit organizations, local health jurisdictions, county health departments, hospitals and clinics, and colleges/schools of dentistry.
