Snowy Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Shoot

Summertime heat brings dreams of a snowy European Castle retreat. Enjoy today’s short wedding shoot from the famous Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany — the castle that inspired Disneyland’s own castle!

Story from Madison (Bride)
“From the moment that Jessica and I got into contact and started talking about the shoot, I already felt like it was a fairytale come true! In my head, I had always pictured a winter wedding. However, when Manuel and I were trying to decide on a date we knew that with the unpredictable weather of the Midwest, we couldn’t chance having a winter wedding in the case that all of my family’s flights would get delayed or canceled and they would miss our wedding in Germany!

“So when Jessica and I talked about a snowy Neuschwanstein shoot, I just knew that I needed to make it happen!

“After setting all the plans in place, Jessica traveled to Manuel’s home town to help us get ready before we drove to the castle. The moment that Jessica secured the crown on my head, I felt like a true princess!

“However the day wasn’t without difficulty. After hiking for 30 minutes up a hill (carrying a huge ball gown and all the photo equipment) we finally made it to the castle! Only to realize that the entire one side was experiencing renovations and was covered in scaffolding.

“After a brief break in order to catch our breath, we decided that we were determined to still get amazing pictures! By this point, a small crowd was gathering around us to take pictures of Manuel and I.

“I can now say that I know what it feels like to be a celebrity — and it was pretty awesome!

“After posing for the pictures, we went in search of a way to get to the other side of the castle (the one not under construction) and we quickly realized that the typical path to get there was closed in the winter because it was treacherous in the snow.

“Nevertheless, being the adventurous type, we decided to hike up another much steeper snow covered “path” to get to the other side. By some act of God, we didn’t fall down on our journey to the top.

“Just as we got in front of the castle, the moment was perfect. There weren’t many tourists and Jessica was able to capture some truly breathtaking shots. Manuel and I are so grateful that Jessica was able to give us pictures of our dream winter wedding and we certainly have a funny story to go along with the pictures!”
