That sign on the front “Home of the Gelato Slider” was calling my name. Plus those other words, chocolate, gelato, mmm…chocolate, all the words, beckoning my name.
Poking our heads inside we saw mounds of beautiful gelato and above screens of rotating images, daring us to purchase one of everything. But, we went conservative and sensible. That doesn’t mean it didn’t take forever to settle on a choice though.
In the end we went for a Cronut with Cookies and Cream gelato, chocolate and strawberries. There were no seats left as the last couple of tables filled up while we were making up our minds. So we decided to just get it take away and eat it in the car or find a seat elsewhere.
On a side note, there are 2 things that don’t exist in Newtown it seems, places to sit, and bins. Which reminds me, mum if you’re reading this can you get the plastic bag of rubbish out of your car, it’s behind the drivers seat. Thanks.
This may come as a surprise as I know they’ve been around for awhile but this was the first time I’ve tried a Cronut. I’m sure you know, but in case you don’t, it’s kind of a cross between a doughnut and a croissant. It was a little weird as my mind kept expecting it to be softer like a donut.
Alone, it tastes alright. Though not something I’d inhale like I would a doughnut. But you eat it along with that gelato and oh my goodness it is tasty!!
I’m not sure if those strawberries were just for decoration or not, but they too were delicious. They didn’t skimp on the quality of strawberry. And the dipping sauce/drizzle sauce, yum!
You know what makes this even better?! This container of deliciousness was only $8. Such a reasonable price not only for what you got but for where the shop is located. Their other products seemed very reasonably priced too, and looked equally delicious.
I look forward to returning to C9 Chocolate & Gelato and trying more of their gelato flavours, alone, on top of, and in their other products.
The shop was very inviting, clean, modern, and had a great atmosphere. Next time I’m going to make sure I have time to eat in, and to eat lots, for the purpose of research of course.
I enjoyed this experience and am giving it 8 flavours of tasty gelato out of 10.
