Creating a Workspace That Will (Almost) Make You Want to Work

More and more people are choosing to strike out on their own and start their own businesses working from home. In many cases, even if you are working for an outside company, there are more options to work from home.

My husband used to have a sweet job where he almost always worked from home. Now it’s only occasionally. I miss having him around!

With the internet, you can connect from anywhere and don’t need a fancy Workspace to make your business work.

For moms, this couldn’t have come at a better time. The luxury of being able to stay home with your children and work at the same time has become a game changer. Whether you are starting your own multi-level business or are just trying to make some extra money for your household, working at home has become a welcome new trend for many.

To really be successful, it is imperative to be able to have a dedicated workspace within your home. If you are already pressed for space and not looking to buy a larger home you can take some hints from the innovative designs found in many of the Taylor Morrison homes available in your area.

Carving out a convenient and workable workspace in your home can make all the difference in the success of your business.

Let’s take a quick look at some of the things that you can do to prepare a functional and comfortable workspace.

What Are Your Workspace Needs

Every type of business requires a different kind of workspace. You may need room to set up a sewing and design area or just an area where you can comfortably sit with your laptop. The set up that your job requires will dictate the size of the space.

Be prepared to compromise, especially if you don’t have an extra room that you can move your operation into. Don’t forget about storage space that might be required for files or specialized equipment as it is important to keep all of your work-related things in the same area.

Comfort

No matter where you end up settling your workspace, comfort is a huge consideration to being productive. Make sure that you have a comfortable office chair and enough space to not feel too cramped.

Surround yourself with familiar things like family photos, a Desk fan or even paint your space in your favorite color.

Pick Your Spot

Section out an area in your living room or dining room, or convert an empty bedroom in a workspace. You will want to remain central to the rest of your home and in an area that will help you stay focused.

If you are a busy mom, you don’t want to set up in a far corner of your basement. It will limit your access to being there for your kids. Think about a desk in the corner of your family room or space off of the kitchen that can give you some privacy.

Personally, I take over our guest room when we don’t have guests. The bed gets propped up against the wall and the rest is mine! I have the Hudson 16-Cube Shelf with Desk which means when we do have guests all I have to do is put the bed down and remove the desk portion from the shelf. Only takes removing two screws and I’m set!

Organization

With many home offices, space will be an important commodity. Make the most of your area by creating an organized system for your files and equipment. Take advantage of a corkboard above your desk so you can keep your area free of clutter.

A rolling file cart is a great way to store your files and can be easily moved into a closet or pantry when you are not working. Wall mounted file holders can be a great way to keep your area organized and within reach.

11/16/18 Happy, HAPPY Friday! Guess what? Today starts my official vacation. SO next week I’ll be trying to concentrate on my blog’s theme. Hopefully, I will have the new one up after the Thanksgiving holidays. Wish me luck
