In The Cinema On Friday:

Argo(15)
Director: Ben Affleck
Starring: Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Ben Affleck
November 4, 1979. As the US Embassy in post-revolution Tehran falls to a mob of Ayatollah-supporting students, six officers slip out and seek sanctuary with the Canadians. It is up to the CIA’s Tony Mendez (Affleck) to extract them from the country before they are discovered by the Revolutionary Guards. The plan? Create a fake movie, called Argo, and pretend they’re the crew.

I like the idea of a fake Movie within a movie and the trailers look pretty cool.  May give this a watch when it comes out on DVD.

The Sapphires(PG)
Director: Wayne Blair
Starring: Chris O'Dowd, Deborah Mailman, Jessica Mauboy
Boozy talent scout Dave (O'Dowd) stumbles upon a talented by callow girl group in Outback Australia. Soon he has them drilled and on a plane to entertain the boys in Vietnam.

Not really my thing. I'll probably end up Watching this one at my parents house!

Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan(TBC)
Director: Gilles Penso
Starring: Ray Harryhausen, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron
The life and career of legendary stop-motion pioneer and monster maker Ray Harryhausen is revisited with the help of his fans and acolytes. James Cameron, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson lend their voices to the tribute.

All these great directors in one place.  Er yes please.

People Like Us:
Director: Alex Kurtzman
Starring: Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Michelle Pfeiffer

I'm really getting into Chris Pine, never used to like him so might give this a watch to see how he does.

My Brother The Devil(15):
Director: Sally El Hosaini
Starring: Fady Elsayed, James Floyd, Letitia Wright
Son of Egyptian immigrants Mo (Elsayed) idolises his older brother Rashid (Floyd), following him into gang life on their East End estate. But when Rashid decides he wants out — for reasons he can’t share even with Mo — fraternal ties are sorely tested.

Well, the word devil in the tite freaked me out and I was like there is no way in hell I am watching that.  Then I read the description, and I still think there is no way in hell I am watching that.  Not my cup of tea.

Alps(15):
Director: Yorgos Lanthimos
Starring: Aggeliki Papoulia, Aris Servetalis, Johnny Vekris
A group of four people, including disillusioned nurse Aggeliki Papoulia, offer their services as surrogates for grieving relatives.

Hmm, this could be quite an intense movie but I've not heard enough about it to make me wana see it.

Aurora(12):
Director: Cristi Puiu
Starring: Clara Voda, Valeria Seciu, Luminita Gheorghiu
Glum middle-aged Romanian Viorel (writer-director Puiu) wanders the city of Bucharest, barely suppressing an anger at the world around him that will soon find bloody voice.

Again not heard enough about this one to make a decision whether or not to see it.  Bloody voice is intriguing though.

Grassroots(15):
Director: Stephen Gyllenhaal
Starring: Jason Biggs, Joel David Moore, Lauren Ambrose
When political reporter Phil Campbell (Biggs) loses his job he decides to help his friend Grant Cogswell (Moore) in his bid to win a seat on the Seattle city council. This task, predictably, proves harder than he'd hoped.

Looks like one of those easy to watch movies tio chill out with when you're bored!

On DVD This Week:

The Five Year Engagement:

Tom (Segel) and Violet (Blunt) are the perfect couple. So when Tom proposes on New Year’s Eve, everything looks set for a fairy-tale wedding and happy-ever-after. Things go awry, however, when Violet’s academic career, and life in general, conspire to get in the way.

Who doesn't like the cutie pie Jason Segal.  Think this is a lazy day Ben and Jerry's movie!

Men In Black 3:

When Boris The Animal (Clement) escapes from a supermax prison on the moon, he swears vengeance on Agent K (Jones), the man in black who put him away. Travelling back in time, he erases K from history, forcing his partner, J (Smith), to head into the past in hot pursuit. There, he teams up with a younger K (Brolin)...

I am so watching this tonight, been dieing to see it.

Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World:

With an asteroid about to obliterate the Earth, jilted schlub Dodge (Carell) and his British next-door neighbour Penny (Knightley) embark on a mutually beneficial road trip: he will get her to a plane so she can return to family in Blighty; in return, she will help him track down Olivia, the real love of his life.

It's about the end of the world so obviously I'm gona watch it - I wana see how many people die hehe!

Killer Joe:

In debt to local goons, Chris Smith (Hirsch) and his lowlife family hire Killer Joe (McConaughey) to bump off his mother for the insurance money. A plan he really hasn't thought through.

Killing your own mother for money, hmm...

I Watched Last Week:

Snow White And The Huntsman:

There is a lot of disappointment in this movie, the main one being no chemistry between the characters, at all.  I felt the film could have done away with the huntsman and it would have made no difference, although he is very sexy and played well by Chris Hemsworth.  Charlize Theron stole the show for me.  She was amazing, I  don't think the movie would have been any good without her.  The dwarves are also hilarious and insainly cute, but they don't sing hi ho - I know, shocking!

21 Jump Street:

I thought this was going to be a disaster but it was actually quite good, lots of laughs throughout.  The scene near the end is hilarious; there is a surprise appearance by a certain someone; it still makes me laugh!  This is defo one to watch when you need a pick me up.

Contraband:

Is it wrong that I wana learn how to smuggle after watching this movie?  It looks like so much fun, apart from all the guns and death obviously!  Not the most exciting action movie I have seen, but it has great characters, a lot of tension and a happy ending, awww!

Are you excited about any of the new releases this week?  Have you already seen them or do you plan to?  How do you like my lil rating dudes?  Are you celebrating bonfire night tonight or did you do that over the weekend?
