Here's a picture of the medieval St. Bénezet Bridge, taken when we went to Avignon a few months ago.
The Rhone valley is well known for its wines -- both white and red. Of the wines we tried, I think my favorite was a red from the Châteauneuf du Pape. It was a vibrant peppery red, and went well with the garlic roasted lamb we had for dinner.
The Rhone Valley is climatically and geographically divided into two regions, the north and south. This picture, taken under the shawdow of the austere and brooding Palace of the Popes, where the Catholic church was ruled for 100 years in France.
