SLEEP is very important for life. While sleeping, your body rest and renew energy.
Ideally a tiny baby would rather spend their time to sleep. But, what if the baby is sleeping during the day but awake all night? It can disturb the peace to Mom and Dad, right?

Here are the cause why babies stay up in the middle of the night :

Continuing the pattern of Sleep in the womb

Try flashback moment! When first pregnant, if you feel your baby move more at night? If yes, may be he still followed the pattern of sleep "duration".
According to Dr. Alan Greene, author of "From First Kicks to First Steps', each baby develops rhythm of sleep and wake up each during late pregnancy. There is an active fetal move when his mother was busy on the move during the day, but when the mother to rest at night, he became quiet.

On the contrary, when his mother active in the day, the fetus tends to calm even as rocked in a cradle. But at night, he ended up turning on, punched and kicked, but the activity significantly reduced the mother.

So, when the baby awake all night, could be once he is a character fetuses tend active at night. And, usually he will continue the pattern of sleep for several periods after he was born.

Following the parents' sleep patterns

Other causes of why the little baby stay awake is the lack of stimulation? Primarily for the eyes during the day, so he'll get plenty of sleep. As a result, he will have extra energy to awake all night.

Try evaluating your night's sleep habits and your husband! Are sleep hours less than 6-8 hours a day? Because the baby is very easy to adapt to the environment. If you and your husband often invited to play at night then he will get used to "stay up" and follow the parents' sleep patterns.

How long the Baby sleep

Generally, the newborn (neonatal) until the age of one month is usually asleep during the 16-19 hours a day. He often woke up every 2-3 hours for a drink. Because the cause of awakening is hunger, and the baby slept no more than 4-5 hours sleep.

Some babies sleep longer till 8-10 hours and this is still a reasonable thing. However, if the baby weight loss or weight gain is not satisfactory, then the baby should be woken every 2-3 hours to be given to drink.

3-month-old baby usually sleep between 13-15 hours a day. Usually five hours will be used to sleep during the day and the rest is sleep that night. Infants may be awakened once or twice in one night.

Good growth, no problem

Even when your baby stay awake all night, do not be too worried. As long the baby have normal weight, good metabolism, good growth, it means that your baby is getting enough sleep.

If your baby fine, no health problems, you may relieved. However, when you were still in doubt and there was a sense of concern about the number of hours of sleep your child, you should consult your doctor. Complaints and concerns will be quickly handled.
