STOP just going to the beach DO more instead: Wildwoods

A trip to the shore is more than just spending time at the Beach. Who really likes all that sand anyway? What it’s really about is everything else that there is to do. Some beaches have boardwalks. Others have amazing strips with local shops and food. Some even have rides and zoos.

The Wildwoods located in South Jersey is one of those shore locations that has so much more to do than go to the beach. Here you will find a boardwalk that is the span of 38 blocks (almost 2 miles). You will find hundreds of shops and food locations. They even have 3 piers loaded with rides including roller coasters, giant ferris wheel and over 100 other rides and attractions.

If you like the water but hate the ocean. Wildwood boardwalk has you covered. They have a few waterparks to help you cool off and have fun on those hot Wildwood days.

Did you can easily spend all day down at the boardwalk? Who says a trip to the shore has to include the beach? On your next visit to Wildwood try following these suggestions all day.

Save $5 when you spend $50+ with code 5OFF50US. Book by 12/31/19. Travel by 3/31/20.

You can start off your day with a one of a kind breakfast adventure. Have breakfast in the sky aboard the Ferris wheel at Morey’s pier. It is offered Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from July 21st to August 20, 2019. It will run you $110 for 2 people and $50 for guest 3 and 4. Max 4 people per car for a total cost of $210. You have seven different dishes to choose from.

After you have breakfast grab your bike or rent one and take a ride down the entire boardwalk. You can ride a bike on the boardwalk till 11am. It is one easy way to see the whole boardwalk without walking all 38 blocks.

Another way is the ride on the infamous tram car. “Watch the tram car please”. If you have ever been to Wildwood you have heard that saying right before you almost get ran over by the beloved tram car. Taking the tram car is one of the fastest and cheapest ways of getting from one end to the other.

This should take you to lunch time where it is time to grab a slice of pizza at one of the many and I mean many pizza shops located up and down the boardwalk. Don’t forget to wash it down with some fresh lemonade. I am going to say it. There is nothing better than some cold fresh lemonade on a hot summer day.

After lunch hit up one of the many arcades. Try to get the top score in skee ball or try and fall at the many, many claw machines. They even have video poker to win tickets. Can you earn enough tickets for that top prize? I know I can’t.

After you cooled off in the arcade time to get a little wind and sand in your face at the only Monster Truck beach house on the eastern seaboard. Rides are $12 a person. Where else are you going to be able to ride in the back of a Monster Truck on the beach?

If riding in the back of a Monster truck isn’t thrill enough for you maybe you should check out East Coast Helicopter tours. They have 6 different tours to choose from starting at $49.99 per person.

For dinner check out Capt’n Jacks Island Grill for a great sit down experience. Or hit up Stewart’s root beer for that 50’s feel. You could also always hit up one of the other pizza joints.

After dinner enjoy the crashing waves as the sun goes down and the 3 amusement piers come to life. Look with amazement as the rides light up with vibrant colors and cheerful screams. Are you brave enough to try the skycoaster, skyscraper, or springshot? In my younger days I was. Now I’ll just watch and snap some photos.

Before you end your night be sure to grab some soft serve ice cream. You can grab your favorite blizzard from Dairy Queen. Or try a local favorite. A night at the boardwalk and a trip down to Wildwood isn’t complete until you have some ice cream from Kohr Brothers.

That’s just a day on the boardwalk. The Wildwoods is made up of 3 different cities. North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and Wildwood. There are so many other things to see and do.

For some interesting sights check out the Doo-Wop hotel district. They have some “nifty” hotels that were built back in the 50’s and 60’s and are now recognized as a historic district by the State of New Jersey. It can make you feel like you were transported back in time.

Wildwood also claims to be the event capital of the world. They have over 160 events or festivals throughout the year. At any given time in the summer you will find something to do. Will it be a classic car show?

Monster truck or car races on the beach? How about a food festival? Or maybe it’s all about a celebration of Irish or Italian Heritage. On Memorial Day Weekend they have a kite festival going.

There is just so much to do than just spending the day at the beach. Do a little fishing or kayaking out in the bay. Play a round or two of golf. Take a spin around the go-cart tracks.

The possibles are endless. Just go and enjoy yourself away from the beach one day. Find that hidden treasure in one of the many shops. You never know your new favorite slice of pizza might be waiting for you along the boardwalk.
