Vintage Car Accidents from the 1900s-1940s – Vol 3

Volume 3 of our old car accidents photos series. These Vintage Car Accidents show automobiles and trucks after the crash in their wrecked, mangled conditions. Cars in the 1900s to 1940s didn’t have the modern safety conveniences like airbags or even seat belts in many cases. These old car accident photos show the not-so-pretty side of automobiling in the early 1900s.

Obviously this isn’t a car accident, but it’s a cool piece of vintage car history, so we’re adding it to the list. This photo is of one of the very first traffic radars. Built in 1947 for the Connecticut State Police, these early speed detectors were bulky, heavy systems made with vacuum-tube technology. These first traffic radars transmitted at 2.455 GHz in the S band (2-4 GHz).
