My Makeup Story: Why I Don't Wear Heavy Makeup

I wore more makeup while in secondary school than I do now. My use of makeup has decreased over the years. Most times I enjoy going out without makeup.

When I started using makeup, like my friends I used brown powder or 'pancake' as most guys called it then. It made my Face appear smooth and spotless. Yeah, it covered the imperfections on my face. I also enjoyed shaving my brows and making my lips stand out by colouring them with an eye pencil and I used a lot of lip gloss because I wanted my lips to be really shiny.

Then one day I bought a new brown powder and didn't use much of it. At first, I thought it was because it didn't really match my skin colour so that's why I didn't use it quite often. But later I realised that I was no longer a fan of it. And from then to today, I have stopped using other makeup and even stopped shaving my eyebrows.

Makeup has evolved so much and is working wonders in the lives of many women but I am still not inspired to use layers of makeup to look beautiful. I think I should tell you why.

Why I Don't Wear Heavy Makeup

I love to show my natural skin

I love skin care and I love to show my beautiful skin. I try to get a beautiful skin so that I can show it and not cover it. So I prefer to invest in having good skin than invest in makeup to cover it up.

If you have a clear and smooth face then you don't need to make up that much.

I hate staining my clothes and beddings with makeup

I think this is one of the major reasons I don't wear Heavy Makeup. I wouldn't want to stain my clothes and bedding with makeup.

I love to be free to touch my face, hug people and lay down whenever and however I want to without the fear of leaving stains on them. I also sweat a lot so wiping my face will be a challenge for me.

Sometimes I wonder how these ladies who use foundations manage to keep their makeup intact. The few times I tried that, I ended up wiping my face before realizing that I had some foundation on.

I'll feel like I'm giving the wrong image to people about who I am & how I look

There's something I do when I look at a girl with well-done makeup. I always try to imagine her real face. I'm always trying to find the person behind that makeup.

No offence ladies but this is my personal opinion. In as much as I admire slay makeup, I feel sometimes that wearing heavy makeup is fooling people about who you really are.

Most times the person in makeup is very different from the person without makeup and it's hard to reconcile the two.

I personally don't want to project an image which is not true or real to others so I prefer not to use too much makeup.

My aim when I makeup is to enhance my features without going too far from what I really look like.

But like I said, all that I said in this post is totally my opinion. I don't have a problem with slaying heavy makeup. I am just sharing my point of view concerning the wearing of makeup.

So what is your own makeup story? Do you wear makeup? What do you think about heavy makeup?
