...Knit 21 Scarves in 17 Days

Am I just ambitious? Am I just a real go getter? Am I slightly crazy? Am I really crazy?

Nope. Just real broke.

One thing to know about me is that my family is very large; coming in strong with 16 members, and my dear boyfriend’s family makes an additional 5 that I was buying for this Christmas.

When looking at the very large number I had in front of me, 21 people to buy for and only enough money in the bank to buy 7 of them decent presents. I was really worried and not looking forward to it.
Me on December 2; (because I procrastinate on almost everything); I know! I’ll just go to the dollar store, dollar tree or the dollar section at target and get some cute things.
Boy, was I wrong.

Me on December 6;
*Scrolling through Pinterest around 10 PM*
*sees article about knitting a scarf.*
*watches YouTube video of girl knitting scarf*

“Micah! I’m gunna knit everyone a scarf for Christmas!” “Do you even know how to knit?”
“I just watched this YouTube video that explained it and I do now”
As I watched my boyfriend chuckle at me and go back to what he was doing I felt my confidence in this shoot to the roof.
Me on December 7;
*walking into michaels like a badass to buy yard*

*gets to yarn section and sees a sign that reads “All yarn buy one get one free”*
*literally does happy dance in isle before stuffing a basket to the brim with yarn.*
I began that day as excitement poured through me. I sat down with my Yarn and knitting needles and began to play this video for the second time of what would ultimately become 1000 times.
I stumbled and started over about 15 times, to the point where I considered returning the yarn and just putting stuff on my credit card.
As I looked over at the mountain of yarn I now owned and saw my happy cat lounging on said yarn I decided that a nap is what I needed; and it was. I woke up and watched the video again and finally, I began what was a longer 2 and a half weeks than I ever anticipated it would be.
I knitted and knitted and knitted until my wrists and hands cramped up. And by December 18, I had about half done.
I was sweating, stressing as wishing that I had made Micah learn to knit too.
I was knitting all the time, I worked on it at work, on breaks at work, really anywhere I could.
Me on December 22;
*Beginning the last of the scarves I had to do*

I finished the last scarf I had to knit on December 23.
The excitement ran through me like a bolt of lightning as I found it hard to believe I could actually be done with 21 Scarves.
Christmas Day came around and I was too happy to give everyone their scarves.
I didn’t think that the feeling of finishing the scarves would ever be topped but I was wrong again. Watching everyone be so happy with their scarves really made me beam with joy.
Thankfully this winter was actually kinda cold in Louisiana and they might’ve actually got the chance to use them!

I was stressed out trying to make everyone’s Christmas presents but I really enjoyed doing it. And I think that they really enjoyed receiving them!

So I give homemade presents an 9 on the scale, just start before December if you have a decent number to make for!
