Great Places to Visit in New England now that Spring has Sprung!

Finally! The cold winter months are behind us as we enjoy Spring and get ready for summer. I don't know about you but I am tired of the cold weather here in New England! We need to take the good with the bad though - at least we get seasons, making New England one of the most beautiful places in the United States (I am biased being born and raised here, obviously).
Now that Spring has Sprung, each New England state has great Attractions that makes for a great family get-a-way or even a day-trip if you live close enough. For now, we will focus on three states where you can get the New England vibe. You will notice the rich history with attractions consisting of museums, historic mansions and even national parks. There are many fun activities for the younger ones in the family!
Connecticut
For Connecticut we are going to focus on Mystic, CT. This is a great location both for adults and children. You can pay a Visit to the beautifulMystic Seaport,a genuine New England vibe on the water. A stroll through historic downtown Mystic is always fun - good food and drink can be found along the way.Mystic Aquariumis a great idea if you need something to go with your child(ren). The attractions and exhibits have always been great based on personal experience and feedback from friends.
Rhode Island
There are quite a few attractions in Rhode Island worth a visit, including museums, historic walking, mansion tours and evenwineries and breweriesfor the adults. You may chose to wonder over to theSachuest National Parkto take some great photos of the scenery or wildlife if that's of interest. If parks aren't your thing, then you will want to consider checking out one heck of a historic mansion,The Elms, a "Servants Life Tour" like none other. The tour guides are great - they are well studied and fun! If you are seeking absolute opulence, you will want to head over to Newport to viewThe Breakers mansion. This is the mother of all mansions in Rhode Island. It could possibly be one of the most liked mansions in New England.
Massachusetts
An entire post could be done on Massachusetts as there are many great attractions that will never let down. Whether it is a visit to the famousBoston Red Sox Fenway Park(and I am not even a Red Sox fan!) or ferry ride (ticketshere) over toMartha's Vineyard- you will easily have a blast and experience sensory overload. The water is surreal and a must if you are looking for a solid day-trip full of a lot of walking & sightseeing.  If your family includes one or more children, you might considerOld Sturbridge Village, a recreation of rural life starting back in the 1790's. A great history lesson to say the least!
There is no lack of activities to do in these three New England states. We would love to hear from you with suggestions of activities not mentioned here. In an upcoming post we will provide additional activities in Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
Cheers!
JD
