Poverty

Today evening, I was out for my walk. My mom warned me not to go out. A Construction work was on so there was a lot of Dust. I ignored it. I saw some kids playing in the dust at the construction site. Let me put those pics here :

Playing in such circumstances is hazardous to them in a long term. But their moms have no choice.
It is Poverty that is  responsible for their plight. We fear stepping into dusty concrete mounds, they play there. Most of their childhood pass by inhaling that grimy foul air. There is no certainty about their health. Nor there is about their nutrition. The midday meal anyway, puts them in school and gives them food. Devoid of it, there plight would be even worse.
I know about poverty. I read about it in one of my books. I felt not too emotional when I read that. But to see these kids like this feels uneasy. A sense of guilt saddened me. Poverty surrounds us which goes unnoticed, it manifests in the form of our house maids, dust collectors, helpless beggars and many more. This is the time we talk about poverty of knowledge but humane conditions for a dignified living is a far cry for many. Poverty is inhuman. It is notorious. Poverty is something that should not be taken for granted. Its time to act!
"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing."-Albert Einstein
