Menstruation or period is a woman's body's monthly cycle which helps the body shed the old thick lining of the Uterus or the womb. It is the body’s way of preparing for a possible pregnancy every month. The menses cycle is managed by various hormones, produced by the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus and the ovaries.

How long does a period last?

Menstrual bleeding usually lasts for 3-8 days in most of the women. Bleeding during your menses/period is usually heaviest on the starting two days. The time from the first day of one period to the first day of your next period is usually between 21-35 days. Many women have a fairly regular and predictable pattern for their periods.

What to wear during periods?

During your period it is best to wear clothes which make you feel comfortable, like you can choose to wear sweatpants instead of tight jeans. Its also a good idea to carry an extra pair of clothes along with you. When it comes to panties you should go for period protective underwear's like the Knixteen's protective underwear. These help to keep the leaks, odor, and moisture away.

It's normal to be nervous and have questions about your first period, as its a new feeling for all teenage girls. This is a feeling that many dislike but feel proud about it as it is a sign that you are becoming an adult now and everything is normal in your growth and development.
